One day schedule

Calendar

08:00 – 9:30: Reception of children / Medical triage / Breakfast

The first people the children meet at the entrance to the kindergarten are the nurses, who make sure that the children are fit to enter the community and do not show any signs of illness.  As soon as the children have gone through medical triage, they are expected in the dining room for breakfast. Every day, breakfast can be served between 08:00 and 09:30.

09:00 – 09:30: Morning Gym / Circle Time (morning meeting)

Morning Gym

At Pick Me Academy, activities start at 09:00 with the morning movement sessions, through which children prepare their whole body for the activities to come. We believe that a set of physical exercises in the morning, for 10-15 minutes, helps children to be healthier, more focused, more confident and more prepared for a challenging day.

Circle Time

During our midday gathering, we encourage lively engagement from the children, fostering communication, nurturing connections, and cultivating empathetic behaviors among our young learners. Depending on the weather or season, the morning meeting can take place outdoors and is based on the ongoing thematic project, the theme of the week or a special event in the life of the group. This meeting is accompanied by group activities, nature calendar, children’s presence, songs, movement games and social-emotional development games. The morning meeting is followed by activities on centers, which capitalize on the children’s interests for a certain field. The morning meeting lasts between maximum 30 minutes, depending on the level of the group.

09:30 – 10:30: Activities by centers

Centers of interest offer children plenty of options to learn through play, while giving them the opportunity to thrive in an open, stimulating atmosphere. By structuring tasks around focal points of interest, the communal space transforms into a conducive arena for children to embark on educational journeys through discovery and exploration.

LIBRARY Center (Language and Communication / Jolly Phonics Program)

This is the place where children discover the magical world of books, learn to use books and inform themselves in different areas of interest to them. The “Library” Center is a sanctuary where children immerse themselves in the wonderful of language, exploring every corner of English and Romanian (vocabulary, grammar, syntax, message comprehension), while communicating (verbal or nonverbal) or assimilating written language. Also, with the help of Jolly Phonics activities, the little ones enter the great challenge of learning the 42 sounds of English and basic vocabulary, continuing with the development of writing and reading skills in English by accumulating grammar knowledge and vocabulary development. All these activities are done in an interactive way, through music, movement and sensory games.

SCIENCE and MATHEMATICS Center

Here, the little ones do experiments and discover the surrounding world through interactive activities and tactile experiences provided by sensory and educational materials. Starting from the weekly theme or the specifics of each project, teachers constantly bring new study materials to children’s attention. Because we want children to have unique experiences, most of the time, the activity of exploring the environment takes place outdoors, the perfect environment where children can observe and interact with the elements of nature. During these engaging sessions, young minds will embark on an enchanting journey into the realm of numbers and mathematical concepts. They will uncover the wonders of geometric shapes, vibrant colors, and numerical sequences. Activities will encourage them to categorize objects based on various criteria such as shape, color, and size, fostering their cognitive skills. As they progress, they will practice their calculation abilities through stimulating exercises in addition and subtraction.

Role Play Center

Through the programs offered by our institution, children have the opportunity to nurture their inventive spirit, broaden their linguistic vocabulary, thus managing to understand certain aspects of daily life, sometimes being put in unique situations, prompting them to weave imaginative narratives, forge new connections, and explore the new worlds. Over the course of their journey, participants have assumed roles ranging from adventurers and scientists to artists, engineers, conservationists, and beyond, cultivating a rich tapestry of experiences and fostering a sense of camaraderie along the way.

ARTA Center

This center holds a special place in the hearts of children, cherished for its abundance of resources that ignite and nurture their creativity. Here, children dive into a world where they mold, paint, sketch, and craft, guided by their teacher or driven by their own imaginative impulses. It’s a haven where each child’s unique expression finds room to flourish, fostering not only artistic skills but also a profound sense of joy and self-discovery.

10:30 – 11:00: Fruit snack

Every day, starting at 10:30, the little ones will serve the fruit snack, which consists of fresh, tasty and seasonal fruits.

11:00 – 12:00: Outdoor activities

Outdoor activities take place both in the first part of the day and in the afternoon, children spending an average of 3 hours outdoors.

We focus on outdoor activities because they are designed by educational staff in order to develop motor skills – movement or team games, increasing physical endurance through application routes, learning about the environment and stimulating creativity through stories and interactive games.

Engaging in outdoor pursuits fosters the development of children’s social and emotional abilities, enabling them to cultivate teamwork, resilience, and flexibility within group settings as they participate in activities of their own preference.

12:00 – 15:00: Lunch and rest interval

Starting at 12:00, children will have lunch assisted and encouraged by care and education staff. At Pick Me Academy, the key to successful food preparation lies in the passion with which they are prepared and the balance between what is tasty and what is healthy. After eating the children, they will get 2 hours of sleep that will recharge them for activities that follow in the afternoon. During the entire rest period, children are always accompanied and supervised by our staff.

15:30 – 16:00: Afternoon snack

Starting at 15:30, the little ones will have a healthy snack and prepare for outdoor activities.

16:00 – 18:00: Outdoor activities

This is the period when we focus on freely chosen activities to strengthen social and emotional skills. It is also an opportune moment for parents to step in, embracing their little ones in their arms to conclude the day on a joyful note.
